The youngest member of the Big 6 who keynoted the March on Washington, he is notably remembered for his courage in the face of brutal police brutality during “Bloody Sunday” and the Selma to Montgomery March

Reverend C.T. Vivian
1924-2020

Rev. Vivian’s work spanned across generations and genres. He advised Presidents, labor unions, banks, governmental agencies and many more. Often recognized from his work with the Southern Christian Leadership Conference and his work with Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. He was a lead strategist in the Selma Movement where the noted Selma to Montgomery march had its origin.

C.T. Vivian is a distinguished minister, author, and organizer. A leader in the Civil Rights Movement and friend to the Reverend Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., he participated in Freedom Rides and sit-ins across our country. Dr. Vivian also helped found numerous civil rights organizations, including Vision, the National Anti-Klan Network, and the Center for Democratic Renewal.
